Office removals are much more complex and demanding than residential moves. This is why we decided to turn your attention towards seven moving mistakes which you should avoid making during your relocation.
Not planning ahead
Planning is the key for going through an easy, smooth and stress-free relocation. So, don’t make the common misstate of not organising your move. This way you will know in advance when and what must be done and more importantly you will be able to accordingly designate a removal budget which won’t drain your company earnings.
Neglecting to back up your date
It doesn’t matter whether we are talking about physical folders and papers or digital data, you should always back it up because things can get misplaced during a relocation and you don’t have to lose valuable information which may cost you clients or break some of your ongoing deals. So, before you commence packing your date have your employees copy all physical and digital information.
Hiring unreliable movers
You shouldn’t entrust your office removal to any man and van contractors. Instead opt to hire a licensed and well-reputed moving company with number years of experience. This way you will have the comfort of knowing that your delicate equipment and company assets will be packing, loading and hauled by competent and properly equipped movers. Know that working with questionable removal experts can results into an abundance of unwanted complications and costly delays.
Not having insurance
You must absolutely insure your company assets, especially your most valuable and delicate belongings. Never under any circumstance take unnecessary gambles with your possessions because even if you work with the most accomplished movers some things are just meant to happen and you should be ready for even the most unlikely scenarios. Keep in mind that many man and van companies offer removal insurance, so don’t be hesitant to discuss the matter with the relocation contractors that you have employed.
Failing to notify your clients
Notifying our customers about your intentions to relocate should be one of your main prioritise. This way you will have only provide them the address to your new office but you will also give them the opportunity to close their ongoing affairs with you before you close doors for the duration of your removal. You should also contact all your service providers and tell them that you will be moving, so that they can transfer your details to their local branches.
Not involving your workers
We are not saying that you should have your employees lift and load heavy boxes and items. We are saying that you should have them pack their cubicles and workplaces. This way the packing process will be individualised and the risk for left behind items will be reduced to a minimum.
Not taking into account the size of your office furniture
Many business owners make the common mistake of thinking that they can reuse their present office furnishings. And while this is a doable option, you should measure your furniture to be sure that they will properly fit into the new space.
